Here are some Frequently Asked Questions that might help you on your way.  If you have any questions, please use the Contact Us form and you might just see your question here.

Q: Is there an instruction manual?

Yes. There are two ways:
  1. Select “Help” on the menu bar, select “guide me”, then select topic from dropdown menu.
  2. Using the “Collector’s Assistant Guide”-Common Actions; select “show topics” then select topic.

Q: How do I attach a picture?

Right click your mouse over the picture square, then select “attach picture”

Q: How do I make an inventory book?

Its easy, you can just use one of the built-in report types. Just follow these steps:
  • Select which chips you want to print. If you want to print the entire collection, you will need to select all of the chips. While holding down the shift key, select the first chip. Then scroll down to the last chip in the collection and click on it. All chips will then be highlighted. (Note; a “select all” button will be in the upcoming service pack.
  • Select “Print” on the menu bar.
  • Select 2D reports.
  • Select Inventory Book2.
  • Check the box for Include pictures
  • Select “preview”
  • Hit “print labels” to generate the preview
  • To print the book, hit file, then print.

Q: I have a lot of chips to enter, will you do it for me?

Sure, I'll be right over

Q: Can I make my own style for an Inventory Book?

Yes. You can make it anyway you like. This is Collector’s Assistant and we give you complete control!

Q: How do I copy and paste?

Select “Item, then copy, then select item again and select paste.

Q: Can I copy and paste from one collection into another?

Yes, follow the same steps as above.

Q: How do I access the built in reference casino chip database?

Two ways: Using the “Collectors Assistant Guide-Common Actions” window, click “add items to your collection” button. Note: make sure that the checkbox is not checked for “Manual Entry” If it is, the database selector will not be displayed. Or, you can select “View” on the menu bar, then select “database”.

Q: I accidently deleted an item from my collection, is there a way to get it back?

Yes. Select “Undo” from the menu bar. Then select “restore recently deleted items” You can do the very same restore if you have accidently deleted an entire collection.

Q: Where do add information for estate or insurance planning?

Select “Collector Tools” on the menu bar. There is also an Estate Planning tab with other fields.

Q: I was using version 7, but now I installed version 8. How do I convert my original data?

Use the “Conversions (V5-V7) button on the left sidebar.

Q: How do I move, add or delete fields?

On the left sidebar, select “Data Entry Screens-Customize”. Then select the type of collection, i.e., casino chip, dice, etc. Then click on the field label. You can move the fields around or modify it. We recommend that you do not delete fields that come set up, but rather just drag them to the bottom where they will not be seen when you return to the regular display. To add fields, you must select the kind of field, type, size, etc. Then click the “add field” button. Drag the field to your desired location with the field label.

Q: Can I change the color scheme in Collector’s Assistant?

Yes, the “Colors” button is on the sidebar.

Q: Will there be upcoming service packs?

Yes. We are always coming up with new ways and new ideas. We also add things that make working easier. Version 8 is a completely new system. As with all new systems, there’s always something that can be added for an improvement. If you have an idea, feel free to let us know. I will mark new service pack releases in the Terry’s Tips page.
